Production Values - Uniforms for the Dedicated

Production Values

Since 2008 we’ve been looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact – a life long journey of learning and improvement we greatly welcome.

The measures we take;
  • Never out of style is our motto, or call it our versions of classics if you will - clothing of purposeful resilience.
  • We commit to continously perfect our garments with the intention that they should survive the test of time.
  • We design in one to three years cycles rather than primarily one season at the time.
  • Starting fall 2020, the majority of our garments are designed to remain in collection until they sold out, and without going on sale. In such way we aim to avoid over-production.
  • We partner with suppliers who put value to social responsibility, offering fair wages and good working conditions for their workers.
  • Our assembling suppliers run the production on renewable energy.
  • Our garments are made of organic, recycled, and bio-based materials, which are carefully selected to embody the certain quality and durability UNIFORMS stands for. Our collection include following;
GOTS certified cotton

This fiber is commonly used in our twill trousers & jackets, denim, shirts, and, jersey. The organic cotton we work with is certified with Global Organic Textile Standard, GOTS. The production sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people by using natural processes rather than artificial inputs such as artificial fertilizers, pesticides or genetically modified seeds.

GOTS certified wool

Foremost used in our tailoring; trousers, jackets, and coats, organic wool yarn comes from sheep that have not been exposed to chemicals like pesticides and are kept in humane farm conditions. The organic wool we work with is certified with Global Organic Textile Standard, GOTS.

Lyocell

Mostly used as TENCEL™ and utilized in a blend with other fibers such as organic cotton, in for instance our t-shirts. It’s a biodegradable textile made of cellulose from wood pulp in a closed loop production process, meaning that the chemicals used can be extracted afterwards and the water can be reused.

Recycled PET

Unlike polyester and nylon, which is made first-hand from fossil fuel, recycled polyester most often uses second-hand PET bottles as raw material, preventing them from going to landfill. We use this kind of fabric (often labled REPREVE ™) for outerwear, lining, fleece, and aprons, often in an organic cotton blend.

Biopolymer

A 100% bio-based fiber made from castor beans. Replacing the use of polyester, it’s ideal for functional clothing. EVO® by Fulgar supplies a light, stretchy and breathable fabric that also is quick drying and offers natural thermal and bacteriostatic properties. We use this fabric for outerwear, and aprons.

Cupro

It’s drapy satin like characteristics makes it perfect for fine lining, which we apply in our tailoring.  Cupro is made from cotton linter, a waste product of cotton (replacing the use of viscose). Similar to lyocell, cupro is produced in a closed loop production process and it’s biodegradable.

Corozo

The buttons in trousers, jackets, and outerwear are made from 100% natural corozo, which is similar in consistency to a hard resin, often referred to as "vegetable ivory." It’s porous nature allows colors to penetrate deep into the surface which makes it an excellent material for dyeing. Corozo is also well known for its elegant natural grain; a unique pattern that, much like a fingerprint, ensures no two buttons are exactly alike.

Mother of pearl

Our shirts include buttons made from the inner layer of pearl oysters, a byproduct of the food manufacturing process. Carrying a rainbow shine, a well-polished on front and back and are each unique.

Natural indigo

Unlike most denim made, ours take no part of a synthetic indigo-dying process. Instead our denim is dyed naturally, which indigo-color comes from the indigofera plant.

Deadstock

We keep eyes open for leftover fabrics, which may fit our collections.
